Clements Gap Wind Turbine Remediation

Impact Group was engaged by Suzlon Energy to undertake the remediation of a wind turbine tower that had sustained severe fire damage. The scope of works included the crane-assisted lowering of the structure, installation of scaffolding and full encapsulation on-site, followed by comprehensive internal and external abrasive blasting to AS 1627.4 Class 2.5 (Sa 2½) standard. A three-coat protective coating system was subsequently applied to restore the steel structure and provide long-term corrosion protection.
