Oberon Dam Pipeline Remediation
Impact Group was engaged by WaterNSW to undertake the remediation of a 100-metre steel pipeline containing hazardous lead-based coatings.
The scope of works included the installation of scaffolding and full encapsulation of the work area, followed by the controlled removal of existing lead-based coatings. The pipeline was subsequently abrasive blasted to AS 1627.4 Class 2.5 (Sa 2½) standard, before the application of a three-coat protective coating system to provide long-term corrosion protection and durability.
Upon completion, Impact Group undertook the safe removal and disposal of all lead-contaminated waste, comprehensive decontamination of the encapsulated work area, and obtained independent occupational hygienist clearance certification, ensuring the site was safely handed back to the client.
